A USB barcode scanner can be used with the Barcode Scan App for Exact Online. Connect the USB barcode scanner directly to your laptop or PC. Or connect the scanner to your smartphone or tablet via a USB OTG adapter.

The scanner is connected as a Human Interface Device (HID). This means the scanned barcodes are passed to the device as keyboard input. Make sure the barcode scanner is configured to send an enter (code 13) after scanning the barcode. This ensures the scanned barcode is recognised by the Barcode Scan App and processed immediately. Sending an enter after scanning is also known as a suffix.
