Industrial barcode scanners are highly suitable for intensive use in challenging conditions. When an industrial barcode scanner runs Android 5 or higher, it can work well with the Barcode Scan App.

Make sure you use the Chrome browser. It is often pre-installed or can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. If your device does not have the Google Play Store, download the APK from a trusted site such as APK mirror. Open this website in the Chrome browser to use the Barcode Scan App.

Set up the industrial barcode scanner so that the scanned barcode is entered as a Human Interface Device (HID). This passes the scanned barcodes as keyboard input to the device. Make sure the barcode scanner is configured to send an enter (code 13) after scanning the barcode. This ensures the scanned barcode is recognised by the Barcode Scan App and processed immediately. Sending an enter after scanning is also known as a suffix.

Depending on your scanner type, you can enter the enter command as follows:

DecimalHexadecimalOctalCodeDescription
13150x0D\rCR (Carriage Return)
