In Exact Online only 1 barcode field is available. This contains the barcode information used to identify the item.

Barcode field Exact Online

The barcode field in Exact Online can only contain numeric values. Many companies already use barcodes on their products that also contain letters. As a result, the barcode field in Exact Online cannot be used to identify the item. When no item is found based on the barcode field, the item code or search code of the item is also checked. These fields can contain letters.

Packaging units

With the advanced subscription of the Barcode Scan App you can define different packaging units per product. These packaging units can also contain a barcode that is recognised by the Barcode Scan App. This way you can book multiple similar products by scanning the item once.

Item extra field

In Exact Online you can define Item Extra Fields. This allows you to store additional properties of an item. You can also use these extra fields to store an additional barcode. For example, you can store barcodes from service providers such as Bol.com or Amazon that ship the items. You can use these fields to link a packaging unit of an item to a barcode.

To do this, first create a packaging unit by going to the packaging units in the settings:

Manage packaging units

Make sure the checkbox for “Use different packaging units” is enabled. For example, create a packaging unit BSKU (Bol.com SKU) to which we can link the Bol.com barcode. In this case the quantity is set to 1. This means that scanning the BSKU barcode once will add 1 extra item:

Next, click the button below in the settings under the Packaging units tab:

Create packaging units from item extra fields in Exact Online

There you link the newly created packaging unit to the extra item field. Then press submit. The values stored in the selected Extra item field are then copied to the barcode of the packaging unit for the items:

When you add new items or make changes, you need to perform this action again.

You can then use the BSKU barcode when processing the orders:
